Tony is locked in his home listening to "Relayer" in the dark, hoping the 17th gets here soon

I always thought it was Chris that held the band together, but Alan White's contributions to Yes and music in general are enormous - He may be the hardest working drummer in the business! And a very nice guy! In Cleveland he asked me "How many shows are you going to?" I said "How many are left!" But it was my last show until the next tour...

GOOD MORNING!

Sorry guys, I've been busy dealing with the aftermath from the busted hot water tank that decided to burst in the middle of the night!
Great way to get your carpets steam cleaned! :x

Jim, HOW DID YOU KNOW! That is scary dude!

But actually, I'm TRYING my best to listen to TALK, DRAMA, and some of the other YES albums that haven't been played since I bought the CD's!

I can't believe it's ONLY the 6th!

Jeff, I hang my head in shame...I MUST TRACK DOWN A COPY! I can't even find a store in this county that sells Bassplayer! 15,000.00 guitar magazines, NEVER Bassplayer. MOOCHES!

johnallg wrote:Chris is certainly looking trim and fit! Great article, and informative too. Glad to see BP fawning over him - Chris is not the usual handful of players they fall all over. Sorry if that offends, but BP has been getting repetitively boring this past year. IMHO

I like BP a lot--have been subscribing only since July '07 though. If I have any complaints, it's that they generally don't take people who play Rics seriously. CS is a rare exception (to be honest I was surprised they gave him this much attention). Boutique basses, Fenders, and most any other basses are fair game for them to rave about... but Rics? Bleh, they say. Oh well. I don't benefit from the magazine's choice of instruments, what I tend to like are the interviews with the smarter players and sometimes the lessons.

just returned to memphis this morning from the nashville show at the "opry house" last night. i just wanna say, that was among the best yes shows i have seen-no foolin! i was suprised and delighted with how good it was. the staging is reminiscent of the masterworks tour, simple and very effective lighting/effects. i had 5th row center balcony seats,in front of the soundboard also directly facing chris, and the sound was very balanced. steve was very happy to be playing on the stage that a lot of his inspiration came from (chet atkins,et al),and gave us 3 solo peices, one of which WAS a chet atkins song. whatever glitches occurred were extremely minor-the guys were really playing well together, including oliver and benoit. benoit actually was kinda endearing goofy to watch on some the instrumental parts of the song where he had nought to do....i saw my first yes show in 1972,and haven't missed seeing them since then, except for drama, and let's see, there were 1/2/3/4/5/6---yeah 6 songs i have never seen them perform,so this old yesser was most pleased! i won't go into any more detail, except to say...ticket $75/hotel $100/rental car $50----yes live-priceless! and of course, the usual beyond pleasant yesfolk camaraderie-i drove up by myself, but met some great fans, and had drinks/dinner. one couple said this was their 5th show for this tour! i am tempted to go to gulfport friday nite, but think i will have to relent...anyway-see this show if you can!

Thanks for your post Woody.

I'm watching the calendar slowly click down, week by week, day by day, hour by hour, mi....ah, you get the idea!

There hasn't been a lot of posts on YESFANS where the is the usual frenzy with a tour.

Sounds like you had a heck of a time. I couldn't be happier that the boys are mixin' it up. I thought for sure there wouldn't be any surprises....I'm glad I was wrong. It would be too cool if Chris would do something from Swiss Choir album, I'd love to see them do something like Silent Night being so close to Christmas and the last show on this leg. Oh well, one can dream!

Anyway, I guess the will have all the bugs worked out before the last show.

Sounds like a fine wine, just getting better and better.

On the bass player note, I gave up on them years ago. 90% of the players I've never even heard of before, I guess I'll have to track one down on Ebay. Sure can't get one local!

I can't wait!

Cool, Woody, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was planning on going to two shows on this tour but wound up at three - I'll tell that story after the tour wraps up. If I could get to my old hometown of Orlando next week, I'd happily take in a fourth show! All of the shows I attended were up close, personal, like I could hear fingers scaping on strings, nothing lost in the system, great lighting, clear mix... I know I'm driving poor Tony crazy here

I left all three shows wondering how any fans of Chris Squire, Steve Howe or Yes could have passed this up...? Seeing the 175 and 4001S in action again after so long was indeed worth all the miles driven, and the added treats made 37 years of listening all the better. What a classy bunch of guys (and gal) they are!

Tony, deep breaths, easy does it, the 17th is almost here! Then we can review the show and all of it's intricate nuances in detail...
