Looking for a guitar or a bass
Thanks!

Early and mid-90s Gretsch reissues had a mixing and matching of eras wrt headstock, pickups, inlays, and control layout. The guitar is nost likely original . I don't recall any of the early Gretsches even having Dynasonics. Also the routing/footprint of Dynasonics and Filtertrons is different. Further Dynasonics do not have a pickup surround. I suppose it's still possible that the guitar was modded, but I would vote for all original. If you want to be absolutely certain, have your friend remove one of the pickups to check if the routing is all original.Ric O'Sound wrote:Well, the vibrato is a USA Bigsby, so if it came stock on the guitar, it's probably Japanese. The Pro Jets all used import Bigses. I'm also thinking maybe the guitar may have been modded somewhere along the line 'cause I can't get my head around the tone knob with the Filters thing. Every Filter equipped Gretsch I've ever seen had a tone switch. The tone pot is for single coils. But I don't claim to be a Gretsch authority, so I'll defer to those who know better.
The '57 Duojet has the Dynasonics as do the re-issues. This guitar shares a lot of similarities with the 6128T-1957. The Bigsby, hump block inlaid position markers, Dynasonics and the same control/selector configuration are all on the '57.paologregorio wrote:Early and mid-90s Gretsch reissues had a mixing and matching of eras wrt headstock, pickups, inlays, and control layout. Paul, spot on with the pickup surround. I have never seen a Dynasonic with one before.
Either way, I think it looks damn fine.
