I always bought old Chevy's in the good old days, lasted forever. 283's and 350's. Weren't very good for racing, although my 70 350 puke green Belair was pretty fast for a 4 door boat, surprised a lot of people.

so would a Chrysler Imperial with the old 392 HEMI cast iron monster. Neighbor had one of those, it could really get going-once you pushed all the buttons on the Select-o-Matic...
