I'd love to, Joey.... You've got the perfect weather there, year round! But with the astronomical costs of real estate out there we would never be able to afford a house big enough for all of my Rickenbackers!

I agree, the grass is always greener.... In Florida there can be hurricanes, in the plains states there are tornadoes, in California there are earthquakes, on the east coast the cost of living is high.... Minnesota is great for about half the year.... But our winters are generally very cold and snowy, and they seem to go on FOREVER.....

Well....I will take a huge earthquake once every decade over Hurricane SEASONS...in which you can expect them yearly. I'd say we have some pretty nasty forest fires here, particularly southern california.

And long winters? I like to be able to drive TO the snow, then drive down and surf the same day.

That said, the midwest/east coast is often beautiful too, if you have an open mind. Having real seasons is pretty cool.

Thats a lot of snow to move, it must keep you fit.

It rarely gets below freezing here in Melbourne, so I don't think I could cope with the temperatures you're facing.

If I want to go to the snow I have to drive for about 3 hours in the depths of winter to find it !!!

Summer actually arrived here for a brief period on Tuesday. Max temp was 37C with an overnight minimum of 28C: that was one hot night !!! By 9 AM the next morning it was 33C then the good ol' cool change arrived and the temp dropped to the low 20's. Thats the great thing about Melbourne, if you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes, it'll change!!!!

I'm sure the "perfect" place does exist, but no matter where you are from, there's no place like home.

Alberta? Are you sure it's from Alberta? Here in Northern Montana it's a balmy +30F, expected high of 42F. You're a LONG way from Alberta, but if your weather is coming from there, you can expect warmer weather soon...

All of this really makes me ponder with increasing intensity and desperation.... Why do I live in Minnesota? Someplace warm and tropical would really be the ticket about now....

Snow is great! we barely have rain here during the winter and it is so hot during the summer you can't walk for more than 2 minutes without sweating like a pig

-34C this morning here. This rivals the weather we used to have in Port Arthur, Ontario if anyone remembers where that was. It will warm up to -15C tomorrow. Time to play outside again.

even here in memphis,we're luxiuriating in -8 degree weather,but it's sunny and precipitation-free,so it could be worse. the local weather in brookings oregon posted a record high of 76 degrees a few days back.....sigh....

We got an inch, or maybe an inch and a half of snow over night, quite a respectable amount in Kansas. The thermometer outside my window reads 21°F. (Sorry, I don't have a Celsius conversion table handy.)

If we get a couple of hot days the flies will come out in abundance, which means we will all start doing the "Great Australian Wave". That should be enough to stir up a Cat 5 cyclone !!!!
