Eggmen concert with full orchestra in February

The Paramount Theatre, a really nice old theatre on Congress Ave. downtown.
One set of early Beatles followed by a set of later Beatles with the orchestra.

Do make sure you get a professional recording of that. If you need a recommendation, a friend of mine in Columbus does orchestral recordings for a living, so just fly Dave and me down there!

Well, we don't tour anymore, I'm 50, with a 10 month old...
But, we do still average about 5 gigs a month around Texas.
I understand there to be much videoing of the show planned.

The orchestra shows are awesome, and kinda overwhelming. I highly enjoy them but they are lots of work, rehearsals with an orchestra are long with much down-time for the band(I bring a book). The payoff for all that work is huge tho'.
We play a couple of large outdoor venues here, each one at least once a month, and it's great playing for big crowds like that but my fave place we play is probably a medium-sized, family-owned Mexican restaurant in South Austin, Jovita's. If you understand the difference between South Austin and Austin proper, you'll know what I mean. South Austin is a totally different vibe, it's what people are talking about with their "Keep Austin Weird" bumper stickers. Anyway, Jovita's is a cool old place with a decent stage, good sound, and a laid-back attitude. The place is always packed when we play and the audience is INTO IT. We're playing a "warm-up" show there the night before the orchestra show, OUCH! is opening.

thanks.... I had a sneaking feeling that was the case. I think that would be my take on things too.... (not that I've ever played big gigs mind you).

Reminds me of 2 things:
Too large venues. One huge cavern(no pun intended) we played was The Salt Palace(where the Jazz used to play) in Salt Lake City. It was ridiculously huge but it was for a big event and so it was packed. Anyway, the thing I was reminded of; We arrived at the venue, ran thru soundcheck, then went back to the hotel downtown(a really nice old hotel I have no idea what the name was). After some rest we head back to the Salt Palace, find our way to our "green room" and joke about how lame this gig was gonna be seeing as it's deep in the heart of Mormon-land(no offense). We take the stage and what do we see scattered about the audience? Mini-skirted, gogo-booted chicks dancing IN CAGES!!! Awesome.
Too small venues. We were invited to play the Austin Tribute Band Marathon a few years back, at this small, kinda sleazy, dark, smoky dive. Not the kinda place we usually play but we'd just won Best Cover Band at the Austin Music Awards for the umpteenth year so we figured we should play a set. OK, so you've all seen it; tiny club, tiny "stage", band has to put the monitors on the dance floor just to have room to stand on-stage. We're several songs into the set, folks are dancing and having a good time. One lady is having too good a time, drunk off her ***, "dances" over my way, trips over my monitor, falls into my mic stand as I'm singing, wait for it.........which knocks my (large, heavy, chrome, "Elvis-type") mic into my face loosening a couple teeth and giving me a bloody lip. She picks herself up and staggers away, disappearing into the smoke cloud at the other end of the dance floor, without even a "sorry" for me. Well, thankfully this was not at one of our usual "family friendly" venues as I picked the mic up from the floor and proceeded to call her EVERY 4-letter word in the book, yep, even THAT one.
Anyway, I ramble.
