Collecting, big time.....actively buying and selling only as a means to the collecting part.....and couch player. Years
ago it would have been gigging. Haven't been bitten by the home recording bug as of yet.

I don't know what category to put myself in.
I play at home a lot, but I don't think of myself as a couch player.
I gig, but not often. While several members of my band are parents, I am not and some of my bandmates are in their 20s. I also consider a Dad band to be the kind of guys that get together and play other people's music whereas we play our own.
I record, but mostly for my own amusement.
I can't afford to collect.

I am not easily pinned down. :)

I suppose I should have checked "collecting" too since it seems that I've inadvertently acquired a small collection. I had a new bass on order, never really wanting more than one. Anyway, while waiting, I somehow ended up buying 2 more Rick basses so, now I have 3 of 'em! :D

It's OK to change your vote. Just use the checkboxes to reselect your options

Yeah, but I'm not sure that unintentionally ending up with a collection really counts as "Collecting as a hobby"...

Maybe you're just hoarding, CJ  If it will ease your mind I will look after one or two of them for you :D

I've been reduced to one Rick (a 1997SPC) but I'm hoarding it, collecting as a hobby...

...if there had been an "All of the Above" choice, I could have voted that :P

I tend to fall between the cracks of this poll too..........as I mostly write and record. I also play my guitars and basses at home but being a couch player certainly does not describe me very well, so I did not tick that box.

It's interesting to see that we have quite a few collectors here.

Yeah..... it's a tough one for me too, Kira.

I collect and hoard, I'm a couch player (of the standing up variety) who gigs every month or two and I occasionally record.

I also hug and squeeze them, polish them, photograph them and just look at them a lot!!

It is tough for some of us (me too) to place ourselves within the available boxes. In truth there was a limit of 10 options or I would have added some more like, "Entertaining delusions of grandeur", "Reliving my childhood", "Keeping away the blues", "Enriching my free time", "Working on my catalogue", or "Leaving my legacy"; it was hard to narrow it down and try to cover everyone and everything. "Weekend warrior at large" can also describe a kind of free agent who isn't exactly a hobbyist, I hope. It was hard. :?

But in Brian's case, I think he's definitely just hoarding at least one of those beautiful basses. :P

OK. I've gone for 'Couch player, weekend warrior at large' - which is probably appropriate as the program I went through to get my band up and running is called 'Weekend Warriors'!!

Definitely not a collector. I can't collect anything, not even my wits  If I buy a guitar it's to play it. If it's beautiful or rare that's delightful but secondary. If it no longer serves me I'll pass it on.

No hoarding here Kira. In fact I played my 4001 last night and gave its intonation a tweak or two. My 4003 in the more recent past always seems to get the nod for recording for some strange reason, but I do intend to use the 4001 in a couple of upcoming tunes.

I have only used two of my Rickenbacker guitars for recording to date. I am sure the others will earn a spot at some point. So I don't think I qualify as a hoarder. Now if we were talking Stratocasters.................I would be guilty as charged.

OK since we can check off another item a second time around, and in light of Kira's explanations, I could count myself as a week end warrior at large. And I certainly do a lot of practicing and writing while seated on my couch.

What on earth does "local Mom/Dad band" mean??????

Some of us didn't pass down that route and don't intend to.....what about "friends in band together?"
