Is that the tracking device you were telling me about that the aliens installed after you were abducted and..."probed?"

Take care, Joey!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. It was an intense scare. I'm glad that's all it turned out to be.

It's on ebay now as an 8 string Rick; no mention of "4008" in the listing.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

Gee, and everyone was so kind and friendly, it's weird he doesn't want to post here anymore...

No one was unkind or unfriendly here. We were just letting holmes know that this bass wasn't what he thought it was, as well as laying out the information for any uninformed potential buyers.

I think that my posts were accurate and to the point, Harry. I stated that I wasn't trying to be mean or negative. I told him that his bass may be a treasure, but it isn't a 4008.

I guess I didn't say "Welcome to the Forum" anywhere, but I don't think that all of the time that I put into providing accurate information (however difficult it may be to accept) should be interpreted as unkind or unfriendly.

The truth can be a hard pill to swallow. Sometimes there is no easy way to give a guy the truth other then to just say it straight out. I find it hard to believe that Rickenbacker verified that it was a 4008 in the first place. :|

I don't want to be accusatory - though I think I was in my post - I just think that this was an opportunity for a new friend that may have been lost.

There is so much information now available on the internet and my impression is that instruments are greeted with greater scrutiny than in the past, which is great, but someone that bought an instrument like this in the '90s and didn't have that wealth of info available at the time may be in for a surprise. If I was in that position, I would like to be treated with some sympathy, that would make me feel more comfortable and open to dialog, instead of being handed the cold hard truth right off the bat.

But that's just me - I'm probably being over-sensitive so don't mind me.

I didn't think anyone was rude to Ashe, just letting him know the truth.

Agreed. Simply, the facts, and presented with respect. Like dog says, I think he probably found it tough to believe it wasn't what he thought it was...

Joey, hope you feel better man... :)
