It is a certainly a great question, as for me its' also the sensation of sounds and tones...and of course the Song in its' entirety.
And the one that got me with barbed end hook was the 12 string throughout "what your doing". Especially the very first riff.
I can't tell you how many times I would put the needle back to the beginning of the song and played along...I think I wore out my first copy!

Kira Moon... I still have a mint copy of that 45 sitting right here on my shelf!! And ah yes...Tower Records...memories of days gone by.
It is pretty hard to tell what does bring happiness; poverty and wealth have both failed.
And trying to achieve happiness, I have realized there is a fine line between genius and insanity---I have erased this line.

OK, in all honesty. I don't know if this song changed my life, but I remember hearing my sister play it on my mom and dad's old phonograph. I would make her play it over and over until I finally just sat and listened to the entire album....

The song was Honey Don't. I swear to God that is true. It was on Beatles 65.

Two songs for me:
Nowhere Man because it was the song that inspired me to play the bass and music in general.

The Inner Light because it was the first time I'd ever heard traditional Indian instrumentation and rhythms. Talk about a surprise when I flipped over to the B side of Lady Madonna! I would crank the volume on our old Magnavox console stereo so the entire neighborhood would hear it... sure they thought that I was one strange little bird... I still get a charge from that tune nearly 40 years later. :D It also introduced me to Eastern philosophy and most other religious philosophies there after.

I was twelve when John Lennon was killed. My friends and I had a little hangout pad on top of my garage and we would often sleep up there. The night he was killed, we were sleeping there and staying up late goofing around and listening to the radio. I heard the news through a Buffalo station - 97 Rock (I had a 97 Rock poster with a giant robot playing the huge pinball machine right over my bunk there). They played the White Album in its entirety and it was the first time I had heard it. I had bought the two best of compilations (the Red and Blue albums) from Columbia House maybe 3 or 4 months earlier (my first two albums by the way) but I was stunned as I lay listening to the White Album, in the dark, over a small am/fm radio just after hearing the news. It really grabbed me and that album has always been linked in my mind to that fateful night in NYC.

It wasn't just their songs that changed my life. I recall watching the animated cartoon series every saturday morning back in the 60's. It wasn't hard to see how brainwashed we were then.
I've just received the complete series on DVD, but they've been Hi-Jacked by my 2 sons, (5 & 3). Both of them are sitting there this morning, giggling, laughing and, more importantly, singing along!
Does my poor old heart proud. :D
