Yeah, that must be a major bummer!ric330 wrote:Wow (456/12),That is a cool model.
I had to look it up in the Rickenbacker Book because I didn't reccognize that model.
It may have been a rare bird. There were only 17 made in 1968.

Blueboy 360. Best Looking and Sweetest playing guitar I ever owned. It would make me feel better if I could at least remember what I did with the money I got from selling it!

Re: That one that got away...
At the time I didn't know what model it was, or it's age. I just thought of it as 'my Rickenbacker'. At one point I wrote down the numbers on the jackplate, and after I began to regret trading it (which was almost immediately) I tried to find out what model number it was. Turned out to be a 456/12, which was, as I found out, an uncommon model, and it was from September 1967, which is supposedly before production of the model began, which means that not only was it a rare-ish guitar, it may have also been one of the first, if not a prototype. Sigh...

Reading this thread has helped me make a definate decision......YukonCor55 wrote:Blueboy 360. Best Looking and Sweetest playing guitar I ever owned. It would make me feel better if I could at least remember what I did with the money I got from selling it!
....I was considering selling my Blue Boy 360/12. Not because I don't like it, I just play my 381/12 more and I tend to leave the BB shut in it's case as I don't want it to change colour (it is still a definate Blue Boy). I have toyed with selling it for some time as I don't play huge amounts of 12 string, but a number of people have said "don't do it." Reading this has made me decide that it would be a mistake to sell it. It was my first Rick after all and perhaps I should get it out and play it and accept that there may well be a colour change over time.
So thank you for that.
Re: That one that got away...
Let's see...
360/12 from '03...my first Ric, I sold it to a buddy who gave me the chance to buy it back in April '08, but I could afford it.
325V63, sold March '08 to a forumite (Arrow201) who plays it more than I ever did, so I'm not too fussed
660/12TP, sold to finance the purchase of my 1997SPC...I'll miss that little guitar

Yeah there's something about your first Rick. If you end up selling it (like I did ) you probably want it back at some point.

Almost sold my first Ric, and I'll always be grateful that I didn't.
Re: That one that got away...
I remember reading somewhere that you bought a 1998 Pete Townshend Limited Edition...did you ever buy a PT and do you still have it (I have a 1997SPC, so I have no interest in it)?ric330 wrote:Yeah there's something about your first Rick. EDIT: Yep, it WAS you!

Yeah I bought one and sold it a little while after...I can't remember why...But sure would like it back.
Probably for some insignificant guitar which I don't own anymore either.

In 1988, I saw a 360-12 MG in the local music store. I hemmed and hawed and when I went back to buy it, it was gone. Got my 360-12 FG instead. Had no regrets till I read this thread.
