1968 ric on Ebay

Post by tallpat1 »

I have a question First of all this dealer has no idea about ric basses he called the horseshoe p/u a split cover. I'm not that familar with 60's ric basses. This base does not have Ric-o- sound output, when did Ric start selling 4001's with Ric-o-sound?

Thanks

By the way she is a beautiful bass! :D

Hi Pat...there is a thread going below on the bass already, FYI....

As far as ROS on a 4001 bass, it was listed as a standard feature on this bass starting in 1970, IIRC.

Before this time, it may have been available as an option on the 4001, although I can't recall seeing a 4001 prior to 1970 with ROS.

John, I have seen a mid-late MG 69 in Japan that certainly appears ROS. Not too sure if Graham picked it up. I'll go look for the pic...

Ok.....I knew he had a '69 bass but didn't know it was ROS....cool. Well, that would be the earliest I know of then. Maybe Graham's bass was ordered with it.....YMMV---

That's correct. All the 68's I have seen, including my December bass, are still mono.

FYI, the horseshoe pickup does have a split cover.

Technically, the shoes are not covers. Take the horseshoe "covers" off and you have no sound (we are talking magnetized shoes here). The same is not true of the RI horseshoe pickups that have alnico magnets as the pole pieces.
