John, I have seen a mid-late MG 69 in Japan that certainly appears ROS. Not too sure if Graham picked it up. Before this time, it may have been available as an option on the 4001, although I can't recall seeing a 4001 prior to 1970 with ROS.

Technically, the shoes are not covers. Take the horseshoe "covers" off and you have no sound (we are talking magnetized shoes here).
