Someone in the family was ordering from some record club and I picked it. As far as my first album I bought and payed for?.....That would have been Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland. I still have it too!
I certainly hope you still have MMT also!

Strawberry Fields
Penny Lane
I am The Walrus
Baby You're a Rich Man (listen to how deep Macca's 4001 bass sound is; fantastic)
All You Need is Love

Great Stuff. But Electric Ladyland as a first purchase. My hat's off to you sir.
Man, I dug two highly trippy songs on "Magical Mystery Tour" ---- the short instrumental (actually with background choral la-la-la's by the lads) "Flying" and Harrison's "Blue Jay Way." Peace, out.....Goofyfoot
Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

I learned a number of the songs in weird keys, playing along with the record. A few months later, I found out that my repaired Webcor had a slipping drive wheel on the turntable, and was running a semitone flat. But that's OK--it's how I learned the usefulness of barre chords. :D
My first good hifi was a Webcor given to me by my aunt,. It really sounded good with a 5 watt tube amp and a 6X9" woofer and two 4" tweeters. It said verified High fidelity under the mahogany cover.
I now have another one which also sounds good, also have a Webcor turntable that works great.

England's Newest Hitmakers The Rolling Stones, I still have it, was also one of my first..

Cool... I'd like to believe that if I'd had someone like Mrs. Hays as a piano teacher that my musical trajectory might have been somewhat different.
Yeah, heard that, brah. These were the next two I scored, again based on Mrs. H.'s recommendation. How in the heck did I turn into a rock 'n roll degenerate? {:=)

I love jazz and have most of Miles, Coltrane's, Mingus's and Monk's stuff along with a lot of other jazz LP's and CD's.

Rolf (bl##dy) Harris.
Well? It was 1965! My parents were never going to let me have a "rock and roll" record! (The devils music!)
My Dad played bass on Rolf's first single :!:

Eden.
Is Rolf Harris the guy who did "Tie Me Kangaroo Down"?

I think that would drive me into a homicidal rage quicker than any Black/Death/Thrash Metal.
I always thought that was a great song, "sport" haha!

My first album was a gift. It was the Purple People Eater. Then came The3 Beatles Second Album (gift also). My first album I bought was The Kingsmen In person. Then it was a Bill Cosby LP. My Beatles albums were always presents. So were The Beach boys. I think my very first bought lp was a CCR album. Every piece of vinyl I actually bought were the '45's. Remember those little things with the big holes? My fist CD, however was The Dire Straits Brother In Arms and a copy of Beethoven's 6th which didn't play on my very first cd player. Had to return the player for another one. First generation of cd players the U.S. encountrered. :o

I still bother to listen to the latter though. I'm sick of Pepper.
