What does Rickenbacker call this black over white binding?

That is your basic laminated binding. Standard stuff from most lutherie supply catalogs. Rickenbacker originally used it as the outer ply on the 4002. It was occasionally used on production basses like the one above.

I don't know what anyone else calls it, but I call it beautiful! I think I like that better than checkerboard binding, maybe...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

"Pinstripe" is what I've always heard it called, not that it comes up often...

It does stand out more on the lighter finishes.

That's the first time I've realized that the white was a pinstrip on black binding. I previously thought it was just reflection in the photo from a light source. :oops:
