Hi guy´s its been a while since my last post here...well here is some photos on my Ric...since the last time I have a original 4003 pick up on it in the bridge and now the bridge pick up sits as stable as on my 4003.
The pick up that I mounted out was from a early 70´s 4001.
So here comes the pics..OK Im a better bassplayer than photographer I´ve gotta admit that.
Cheers guy´s.
Best Danne.

Great looking bass. I know I don't have to tell you to enjoy it. I know you already are. Mark

Beautiful bass, Dan!
Is the finish glossy or satin? Either way, looks amazing.

I really like the look of a bridge hi-gain and small surround on a V63/C64/RM1999 (not to mention the feel!)
Reminds me of this cool RM1999 in Barcelona:

I think my '92 V63 might sport a similar look sometime soon!

Yeah I tend to agree whit you rickaddict...and the bass sounds ACE whit the high gain together whit the toaster...IMO it´s a big bonus not to have the pick up cover in the way for my pick hand, each to it´s own there I´ll guess.
The first thing I did on my 4003 was the remove the plastic pick up cover.
Best Dan.

Jeff, I'll trade you even up for a new adjustable pole higain and short surround.rickaddict wrote:I really like the look of a bridge hi-gain and small surround on a V63/C64/RM1999 (not to mention the feel!)

Yeah, I'll bet you would.johnallg wrote: Jeff, I'll trade you even up for a new adjustable pole higain and short surround.
You band-wagon jumpers only like those things because RIC won't sell them to you anymore.

I'm starting to prefer the look of the small surround too, though I'll gladly keep my shoes on.

Not so Jeff. I paid good money for both RIHS pups I own (one came with a beautiful V63MG!) and also bought two lap steels for the magnet shoes I have. That is crazy money and antics just to ride the wagon. I really prefer the sound of the magnet shoe horseys, independent of the coil differences, for the WAY they make each note sound. I've come to know the RIHS does not sound too different from the new higains.rickaddict wrote:Yeah, I'll bet you would.johnallg wrote: Jeff, I'll trade you even up for a new adjustable pole higain and short surround.

Since I own both an adjustable pole coil and a 4003 surround, the offer still stands.

I feel for you, John. And I'm very glad that the superior pickups that I prefer are so readily available and inexpensive.johnallg wrote:Not so Jeff. Thanks for the offer. As it turns out though, I'm a retro-grouch about my hi-gain pickups. I like my surrounds to not have the scoop, and I prefer the feel and tone from the earlier (pre 1992-ish) hi-gains with the hand-cut bobbins and button poles.johnallg wrote:Since I own both an adjustable pole coil and a 4003 surround, the offer still stands.![]()

Yes, I am picky!
