Also, I figured that "while I was in there", I'd make a few other changes. I'd heard that HB-1's sound a lot like toasters if you run them single coil, I like to run each pickup through a different amp, so it needed a stereo output, and I'd heard the tone circuit on a 4002 sounded good (though this is more due to the placement of the pickups on the 4002).
Making these changes wasn't too hard, but in the event that I ever wanted to run mono, not having 2 jacks was a problem. Easily overcome with a switch, but where to put it? The same with the single coil mod, I didn't always want to run single coil, so I needed a switch, well 2 actually, one for each pickup. And then there's the 4002 inline cap, I didn't always want that on both pickups either, so, 2 more switches. Wow, 5 new switches! Well, this bass is a thing of beauty and I absolutely hate mods that aren't reversible, so how do I add 5 switches without messing things up?
