Lesser models pricing

Post by fatcat »

Since getting a 2030 for >$800 , I've paid more attention to the lesser models and it seems the prices are coming up on them now. Ex:http://cgi.ebay.com/1976-VINTAGE-RICKEN ... 414ba7772a
for one, and:

This recent sale of a 3001 Fireglo for $1776 supports your point.

There also have been several 3000 (short scale) models that have sold recently in the $1500 to $1700 range.

i've also noticed that the lesser known basses, like the 3000/3001 are fetching better prices than i would have thought possible. i am suprised a bit as i really don't think they compare to the (similarly priced) 4000 series, but then, they are nothing alike....except for being really well-made instruments of course.... guild bass sale prices have come up quite a bit in the last few years as well...
