This recent sale of a 3001 Fireglo for $1776 supports your point.
There also have been several 3000 (short scale) models that have sold recently in the $1500 to $1700 range.

i've also noticed that the lesser known basses,like the 3000/3001 are fetching better prices than i would have thought possible. i am suprised a bit as i really don't think they compare to the (similarly priced) 4000 series,but then, they are nothing alike....except for being really well-made instruments of course.... guild bass sale prices have come up quite a bit in the last few years as well...
