'72 (LB) with a RI horseshoe. The original rear pickup is in another bass but the original magnet for it has de-gaussed. Notice the flat Grovers.

Cool. That is one of the latest I've ever seen with walnut wings.ken_j wrote:'72 (LB) with a RI horseshoe. The original rear pickup is in another bass but the original magnet for it has de-gaussed.

Actually it was played quite a bit. It just doesn't show in the pics. It has a bit of rash on the front and back but not too bad for its age. My friend was pretty much done touring by then but still played in a number of bands.rickenbrother wrote:Nice and in excellent condition! Looks like it was hardly played.

Yeah, would have to be REALLY early '72 to not have the shedua stripe and have the walnut head wings. Can you give is a date to add to the knowledge database?

Re: Look what came to visit me...
that one still has the tapered timber center section before RIC went into parallel laminations late '72/'73 thus the smaller head wing laminates. the headstock shape looks more like a '70 ish. seems like RIC couldn't perfect the smaller headstock shape until about '75.
