It had no upper guard when I bought it Jeff and I had that one laying around in my parts bin. The guards will be replaced in any event with gold guards and I have decided to put oven knobs on it as well.

Hotter, crisper sound? Are the pots and wiring stock, or did his luthier add some magic there as well. I know you have a lot of experience with toasters and hi-gains, and I would describe my experiences with HB1s to be the least crisp of the 3. Just curious.

Mike I am strongly considering using this guitar to record an old blues song written by Walter Vinson and Lonnie Chatmon and made famous by Howlin Wolf in 1957 called "Sitting On Top Of The World".
