Re: RRF CD3 - NOW ALIVE AND TAKING SUBMISSIONS

Post by admin »

The progress on the 2010 RRF CD3 continues with some final submissions coming in. Mark has done his usual superlative job organizing the material and what I have heard thus far continues to highlight the many talents of our members and of course the Rickenbackers they play.

At this time we are still planning to have a CD with artwork that will be mailed out at one price worldwide. We have discussed whether an electronic release may also be appropriate for those who are not interested a hard copy. While the latter is appealing with regard to the distribution of the product it makes its use as a gift or showcase less appealing. We will continue to use PayPal as this seems to have worked well for most interested parties.

I am interested in your thoughts at this time with regard to the merits of hard copy versus electronic formats.

I suppose that both hard copy and electronic simultaneous releases are not financially advisable. Otherwise, I'd suggest both.

Maybe I'm just old  (fashioned  )...I still like the hard copy experience...ripping off the wrapping, fumbling to load the disc...reading the liner notes.

How about some vinyl?

Looks like so far a CD release is far and away the favorite.

Yes, CD is the format. You can't hand out downloads at gigs!

Thanks for all your posts and comments regarding the format of CD3. We have decided to go with the same hard copy format again as it continues to have a number of advantages over the electronic format.

As we get closer to the release date we will provide additional details with regard to the cost but in the spirit of past releases we will have one price shipped worldwide.

The delay in its release has allowed us to consider more recently submitted material. My apology to Mark Walker for this delay as he has been waiting for this decision. He can now move forward with his work.

Vynesmusic here......I would love to have a cd, and would pay what's necessary. Do you have a list of the artists that made the cut for CD3? Kinda would like to know if I'm gonna be on the cd.......yes...that does sound self-centered
