Re: Stupid question: How to wipe a guitar?
I have noticed that some folks won't ship Zymol.
Ace Hardware online shows it available:

Here's a review of the stuff on epinions.com:

I'd call around in your area and ask for product #503. I'm curious where you are that it shows, "unavailable"?

Gosh, that is such sensible, logical advice about keeping the polish-cloth clean....jingle_jangle wrote: ...wipe it down with the factory cloth, and keep the factory cloth in a clean Zip Loc bag.
..... can deliver abrasive dust to the surface (as can any fiber cloth that's not clean, including the factory cloth!)

So I did in fact manage to locate a retailer near by that sells Zymol. $18 a bottle I hope this stuff can do what everyone is saying it can. lol I'll likely get some Swirl X as well considering its the old Scratch -X

Re: Stupid question: How to wipe a guitar?
How hard/difficult are these Zymol and Scratch X stuffs to use for people who've never used it?
At least using the cloth is not difficult. I was already keeping it zipped off to keep it as clean as possible

...any brand recommendation? The diapers (baby and adult) we have over here at the supermarkets have an outer layer of some synthetic material.jingle_jangle wrote: Dr. Peter, diapers are the best. Medical cotton wool is not aggressive enough and will tend to tear and bunch. The best car polishing device in existence is the human arm, hand and fingers.

Some ecological shops carry them, but they're VERY expensive!heinpete wrote:We don't have them in the shops any more!
If simply wiping with some water I use all cotton hankies.

Diapers are like thick hankies.
They may be pricey in the eco-shops, but how many do you need? They last forever with regular laundering. And, they're very useful for, er, other stuff when you get as old as me...

Here in the USA, they sell them in auto-parts stores and also in what we call hardware and home-improvement stores, and also at hobby and craft stores, where they are packaged for use as rags, but specifically indicate they are 100% cotton diaper materialWildberry wrote:Some ecological shops carry them, but they're VERY expensive!heinpete wrote:We don't have them in the shops any more!

Re: Stupid question: How to wipe a guitar?
I've used flannel one's previously and was able to make my Rick's really Glo(w). Only problem with the flannel was it was leaving tiny parts of the substance on my basses. One wipe was enough to get rid of it. Now I have non-flannel one's, but I have not yet needed them as all my Rick's still Glo(w). 3 of my (9) Rick guitar and basses didn't get the scratchx/zymol treatment as 1 is oiled and 2 of them would have the mojo removed. The non-flannel one's feel harder. I'm not sure if thats good. Maybe I should wash them first. The description of the diapers also tell me to do this.Wildberry wrote:do you know what the quality's lole Bert?
