Also on You Tube, many guitarists have done "demo" recordings to demonstrate this or that piece of gear or effect pedal. It's pretty useful to check out some of these "demos" on You Tube so that your own search can get narrowed with what you like/heard. I posted a few JangleBox You Tube links (of other people's demos) on some of these earlier Compressor threads here on the RRF.

I've found that the sound quality on the You Tube clips is at best mediocre. You really won't know what any compressor sounds like until you try it with your gear.

Great compressor, great guy makes them. The price is right, too. 8)

I have a Rick 330-12 and am very happy with the Janglebox. Now that I have it, the guitar doesn't sound right without it. Rich

What about the new Byrdbox by Whirlwind, designed with help from Andy Babiuk? Anyone hear it yet? Supposed to be cheaper than the JB, I hear. http://www.whirlwindusa.com/fx.html#byrdbox

Steve,

I must say that You Tube clip of the Farndurk-Burgs Compressor in action is pretty impressive. How much do they go for?

I've tried a lot of compressors, including the Janglebox. My favorite by far was the Comprossor by Analogman.

I have an Aphex Punch Factory, current up for sale, that is quite natural sounding; it soes not mess with your tone, that is what strings, fingers, tone controls, etc. are for.

It is in the Second Strum section for $75 shipped.

Regarding the Farndurk- Burgs Compressor:

Has any forumite ordered and received their pedal from this company? If so, how long was the turnaround time from the placement of the order until the shipment? When I emailed them regarding my pedal, all I got was a sarcastic response that I should be more patient. Furthermore, no word was forwarded regarding backordering problems. However, they requested and received my PayPal payment as soon as I ordered back in late Feb, 2010. This has me worried...should I request a refund or should I wait? I would appreciate feedback from other forumites that have done business with this company.

Thanks...Ron

I ordered mine and paid for it on Jan. 22nd 2010. They have been good about answering my queries, but I don't think its going to get that pedal here any quicker. On their website they mention that they've had a few "difficulties" early this year that have set them back - but they also mention all the new pedals they have developed and are ready to build. I think they should just finish my pedal and I'll shut up. I'm just going to wait patiently, as nothing seems to help. I have Keeley on my board now - that's a fine compressor for my apps.

I was able to A-B compare a JB with the onboard effect in my 370-12 RM, and the JB wins by being somewhat more flexible.
And better availability.
