Forrest,
I haven't tried the DOD, so I can't vouch for how good it sounds compared to the others. I do know that I've auditioned four compressors--the MXR Dynacomp, the Boss CS-3 Compressor/Sustainer, the Keeley, and the Janglebox JB2, and I found that the Janglebox was the only one that comes close to the classic Byrds sound. It's remarkably easy to use and very versatile (there's even a separate button for the treble boost, so you can use it for solos).
Someone posted a YouTube link on this thread showing the Farndurk-Burgs compressor in action, and I thought it sounded pretty incredible (although that was with a Tele rather than an electric 12). Someone else mentioned the new Byrdbox that made its debut at the NAMM show. There are so many options when it comes to compressors, and the best thing, if possible, is to try each one out with your guitars and trust your ear. If you're interested in the Janglebox, you can access their website at
