Hey Duke! What model and year is that white one? Any chance you could post a solo pic of it? I've always loved a white bass.

Jack, my first one was a '72 that I bought used in '75, but I didn't get into collecting until 2002. I currently have 19 in the "Rickenbacker National Forest (18 in the photo, one of those is gone, two others since are being restored).

The white one is an oddity. It was a Fireglo V63 that one of the Forumites had modified. He sent it to Dale Fortune who shaved the neck thinner, added a real (magnetized) horseshoe pickup, and stained the fretboard very dark with matching headwings. The white finish is supposed to be "non yellowing" and is VERY white. The Forumite had to sell to cover upcoming medical expenses, and I've not heard from him since January 2008 ( ).

That is a beauty duke! I'm glad I saw your stable because I got nervous about pulling the trigger on the 4004cii to go along with my 4003! I feel much better now!

Well, it started life as a 4004Cii. I now call it a 4004Cjj, the Control cover now looks like this:

And inside
Wiring.JPG
It's been rewired with stacked pots for separate volume and tone on each pickup, switchable mono/stereo, switchable single coil/humbucking for each pickup, and a switchable vintage tone, normal for each pickup.

Sometime this winter, after I get moved to the new house, it'll look a lot like this

For the record (and the for benefit of us less experienced bass acquisitioners) how many basses must one have before one can more discreetly add to the collection? My guess is the magic number might be around seven..........give a couple, take none.
