1973 4001
Just arrived here from Japan. It took only 48 hours door to door. My 4001CS took two weeks to get here from New Jersey.....
All original, beautifully yellowed binding, wavy Grovers, full width inlays, and sounds terrific.
I'm looking for a period correct bridge pickup cover if anyone has one.
I really should stop this sort of thing.

Re: 1973 4001
so, a transition bass...later '73 5 screw. is the terble pickup a button top or flat screw top ? very nice with the older staggered machines headstock.
Re: 1973 4001
Indeed it is. The bridge pickup is a button screw one. Inlays are not MOP.BAD RONBO, KiLLeR DWaRfS wrote:so, a transition bass...later '73 5 screw. is the terble pickup a button top or flat screw top ? very nice with the older staggered machines headstock.
Re: 1973 4001
Very nice! Do you know if the tailpiece is a replacement or original to that bass? I assume by MOP you mean it is not crushed pearl but it is the swirly type, like those on my March '73 4001?
Re: 1973 4001
Everything looks to be original from what I can tell. The tailpiece has the usual lift on it. The inlays are the same as yours there....jps wrote:Very nice! That's a sweetheart of a bass!

Congrats!
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!
