Robert, is yours a 4008 or a 4003S/8? I'm not expert enough to tell one from the other in closeups. The trick is the bound neck of the 4008, unbound on the 4003S/8. Other details differ as well.

it was destroyed when I got it and wanted to do something to honor my British friends... A local guitar luthier/wizard did the paint for me. Unfortunately, it was sold a couple of years ago when I lost a job and had to pay the mortgage

It's a 2002, 4003S/8, which still has the factory original strings. Shows ya how often I play it.

Say, what's the deal with that CS 8-string? Looks great. Did you do the conversion? Tell us something about it. How about a full body shot.

Are you going to install that 8-string bridge saddle that was offered here about a month ago by a forum member?

Absolutely magnificent.

I would never have one of my basses stripped and refinished, however....

Epiphone did something very similar some time back on one of their hollow or semi-hollow guitars. Maybe it was a Sheraton. I think it was based on a guitar owned by the guitar player from Oasis, if memory serves me correctly.

Anyway, that's one heck of a cool Union Jack Ric!

my friend who did the paint worked out the mathematics so it was correct based on the body size etc...it was quite an undertaking...I may do another one sometime...

Say, what's the deal with the truss rod cover on the '08? It seems to be tickling the bottom portion of the cresting wave.

Very cool! And he actually looked at the flag, I've seen some home made versions where the thin red stripes were all wrong! Good job he did!
