Any modern Ric guitar mentioning VIntage Pickups uses the Scatterwound Toasters. Single coils.
The 325s all have these Toasters. Most Ric enthusiasts feel Toasters will give you that Beatles and 60s era vintage sound. A lot of us think Toasters look the coolest too !!!!
The 330 models come standard with High Gains, which are Single Coils, but as the name implies, more output and gain than the vintage Toasters. I believe the HGs are ceramic magnet. High Gains also deliver that jangle sound too.... a lot comes down to which style of amp you use. There are many advocates of High Gains here on the Forum ....
Ric makes a seperate Humbucker, the HB1s.... today they come standard on 650 model guitars and the 4004 series Basses. You can see all the Ric pickups on the company website Boutique page.
http://www.rickenbacker.com/cart.asp?category=Pickups Another style of Ric Humbucker appeared on the older 480 series guitars.
All three Ric pickups styles can be interchanged without routing. They are the same size. Toasters require the rubber mounting grommets and High Gains and HB1s use the foam mounting pads.
Re unwinding pickups -- I saw some threads here on the Forum strongly cautioning AGAINST doing this. (In fact it was JH from RIC advising against this). Do a search on that topic for more details.
i think you can find dozens of threads here on the RRF about the different pickups and the preferances people have. Congrats on your new Ric arriving !! Enjoy !

And remember that JetGlo rocks !!!
Also, for capturing that vintage sound -- you might want to look up RRF threads on Compressors in general and the Janglebox in particular.
