Mine was built up from parts collected over time; I bought it from a forum member who had the bobbin rewound and the pickup assembled. Finding one from a '60s bass is not easy, so I went with this pickup when the opportunity presented itself. 8)

Now, that body shape and headstock shape just do not go together :shock:

I've read about people scouring resale shops and eBay for old lapsteels and cannibalizing them.

My '69 Hagstrom 8-string plays like a dream. Short scale, skinny, fast and dead straight Hagstrom neck, low action, TI Jazz Flats on all eight. Sustains like a mother, too.
