Peter - if this was fixed, would bits of new and old Rickenbacker electronics actually affect the sound?
Hi Steve,
 I dunno about how the changed pots and caps affect :( the sound? However I read a lot of posts here in the forum about the different Ohms and microFarrads, that affected the sound. You can probably only tell if you swop with a complete vintage circuit of that year make.

Was the neck stripped when it was re-fretted Steve?

Do you mean was the fingerboard stripped? No I don't believe so, I think I would have remembered.

Thanks for the feedback here it's very helpful.

I think we agree it's a players bass, I've always thought it sounded fabulous as I've never had an original to really compare it against! I jus not played it enough over the last ten years and it's a crying shame for it to sit in a case when it could be making a noise.

Would you recommend trying to restore it as close to original spec as possible or let it go as is?

I might be interested :)

The fretboard looks a bit darker than Ric fretboards usually have . It looks like the lacquer has been removed?

Looking to the bridge saddles it looks like the action can't set much lower than this. Is this correct? How high/low is the action at the moment?

Thanks!

Cheers
