I can't recall seeing a standard 4003 bass like this in over the last 10 years. Anyone?

As impressive as the body is, and it is impressive, the "orange" board doesn't seem to do it justice. A darker grain would have really highlighted that magnificent body.

JB quotes from the seller, that this was a custom order, so, can one can assume that they are the original owner?

Ah, Thanks Evan...had forgotten about that one. That too was spectacular. Generally speaking, we have seen precious little of this standard of wood for many years, making the original, alleged quote from JB most interesting...

Rare, sure, but as I said, we don't take orders like this. I might do it for a close friend, but otherwise it's the luck of the draw.
