Welcome,Tim, excellent choice(s) on the bass mods!

That's essentially what I did with my '74 4001 (pup wise). If yours doesn't have it (I can' t remember when they were issued) you might consider a push pull pot for the cap bypass... can be quite dynamic. That is a sweet looking bass!Tbass wrote:Oh man! Thank you woodyng. It really worked out well and is a very "different" tone!woodyng wrote:Welcome,Tim, excellent choice(s) on the bass mods!

Right. It does have the push pull pot- I was amazed at the additional tonal ranges, and quite readily use them when I play.ram wrote:That's essentially what I did with my '74 4001 (pup wise). You have her fitted out like my '04, your bass' doppelganger, mine being MG. What strings do you use. This one has NOS RIC/Maxima flats on it.Tbass wrote:

Thanks- I was actually inspired to go to a local guitar shop that has 2 4003s on the wall (unmodified)---and wow. I really think that although they sounded great, I really like my tone more.jps wrote:Nice mods, Tim!
