Yeah. Pretty smoky here today. Yesterday, when that picture of the smoke was taken, the fire was around 1000 acres. Today it has grown to 18,275 acres...jps wrote:Looks just like a storm front.

Crazy earthquake on the east coast...Unfortunaley I didn't feel it, That would have been pretty cool!
Re: Man, It's Hot! (2011)
Still pretty smokey here, but they've managed to keep it to about 22,000 acres so far. Man, it sounds like we're on a base in 'Nam with all of the Hueys flying over dipping water from the lake to drop on the fire...cjj wrote:Yeah. Pretty smoky here today. It's a 108 here in Cypress, TX (NW Houston). Yesterday it reached 109 and 107 is forecasted for Monday & Tuesday. On top of everything the local weatherman is blaming these temps on Hurricane (T/S) Irene. They say that Irene sucked so much moisture out of the air, that Houston is having temperatures that one would expect in the desert Southwest (note the humidity of 16%).

As with every year, I'm going to be in Lockhart, Texas on Thursday-Sunday for the annual cattle sale. My dad has been saying that the drought is bad and it's hotter than ever. I'll be sure to report on Friday. Richard, you've given me a taste of what to expect...and I'm not talking about the barbeque!
Re: Man, It's Hot! (2011)
Definitely fire season here in Montana, still pretty smokey. Of course, with 40,000 acres burning to the south, 2000 to the east, and another thousand or so to the west, there's bound to be a bit of smoke here and there...

The heat finally broke in Kentucky. Two days ago it was 100+, and now it's a very comfortable 65. Looks like I'm back to running every night.

Yesterday, we did an outdoor afternoon gig where it felt like the tropics; today's outdoor afternoon gig felt like Alaska during a winter storm!
Re: Man, It's Hot! (2011)
Still pretty smoky, even the weather forecast shows we'll have smoke:
Here's where the smoke comes from:
