Awesome! love the british racing green
been gasing for a 5 string for a while, thinking that I would no longer have to down tune as required, but thats just a poor excuse for buying another bass.
I want to be a door too...

You can always just buy another Ric and string it BEAD......that's what I did for years and it worked great! Just a thought.watton_earth wrote:Awesome! love the british racing greenbeen gasing for a 5 string for a while, thinking that I would no longer have to down tune as required, but thats just a poor excuse for buying another bass.

Brian, congrats on getting a very rare color and model. Not many 4004 5-strings out there. Nice.

Re: New to me 5-er
This is true. I used BEAD tuning for a while--I ultimately decided I need the G string a lot more than the B string if I have to choose though. Still, BEAD sounds pretty sweet on a Ric... uncommonly deep and rumbly yet with a lot of presence.incubus2432 wrote:You can always just buy another Ric and string it BEAD......that's what I did for years and it worked great! That trans green is growing on me!
Re: New to me 5-er
...have always loved the trans-green....I had the 4 string a few years ago, I remember it being quite light with a lively tone....(trying to remember WHY I sold it)

Hey Chris I think you bought it from me. Did it look like this one?beatlefan wrote:...have always loved the trans-green....I had the 4 string a few years ago, I remember it being quite light with a lively tone....(trying to remember WHY I sold it)

BTW.......I probably shouldn't have sold any of these.

Re: New to me 5-er
Nope.....but three of the others.
Re: New to me 5-er
Yep....that's the one!
I loved the humbucking pickups and the lightness and the overall coolness of the bass.....I think that's the one that got a little damaged in shipping ..... a small gouge or something like that. It had KILLER flaming!! .... but your 5'er is spectacular .... nice job!
