Well, I haven't received any translations of the first part of the article, which is fine. My comments in the interview are probably stuff that you already know. I regret that the article is not available online so you could at least view it for the photos. The PDF of Part 1 was done with low-res photos, so they don't look too good and are on 8 separate PDFs.

Part 2 of the article was recently published. I was able to get from the embarassed author (who promised an English translation of Part 1 but didn't deliver) a single PDF of the final proof of Part 2 of the 8-page article which has decent photo reproduction. Gil has enabled me to make it available here. As with other popular publications, you can just read it for the photos.

If you click on the link below, you will have to "save" the PDF (2.4 MB in size) to your hard drive to view it. Although the PDF was not provided to me with any specific restrictions, I request that you not circulate the downloaded PDF to others as there may be copyright issues involved.

Were there any 12 string 381 models built back in the 60s, or just the reissues? Anyone know? Just curious.

In Richard Smith's Rickenbacker book, there's a pic of a fairly typical late-'60's-early-'70's folk-rock group called The Establishment--maybe The New Establishment; I'll have to look it up! Obviously a posed outdoor shot, female vocalist with tambourine, everybody's quite clean-cut, definitely not a bunch of hippies! Anyway, the guitarists have matching Mapleglo 381's, and one's a 12. The pic looks to be from around 1970 or so--they obviously made at least one. And Jeffrey Foskett, who's toured with Brian Wilson among others, has an ultra-rare 3-pickup 381-12 (a 383-12?) in Fireglo. Toasters on all of them too, so they predate the introduction of the Hi-Gains, which were originally known as the "381-type coils".
