Never noticed it before, but now I see that my '08 4003 has "The Hump". Odd, but I think I can live with it.

Yet another advantage for the mighty 4004 - my Cii will never suffer from this issue!

It's below the switch. The Jetglo (L) is pre-hump, the Fireglo (R) has it.

Minutia, but once you notice it, you can't not notice it.

I kind of like the double hump one better.

...the hump even looks worse with the more parallel (even rhombus) like positioned knobs on the pick guard!
It is just more harmonic if the pick guard edge lines up with the binding.

I'm really glad to see some experimental work being done on the 4004cii.

It looks more MONTY than a Walnut, but STILL my FAVORITE color scheme.

I really hope some of you 4003 guys would give these a try.

I can't wait to try the new neck profile! Even with the old neck profile, I miss my Blueburst.
As fate would have it, OLIVIA"s now has my very bass on Ebay.

It really is such a versatile bass, just like a Pbass on steroids with some classic RIC tones thrown in to boot.

I saw that up there such a beautiful bass and they took stellar pics of it , really stunning . That one off is sweet too . Mine has a birthday coming up

When I was modding my 1993 4003S earlier this year, I sent Tony my original factory pickguard as a template for making his 'vintage' style guard with 1/2" spacing to go with my RIHS and Toaster. I'm glad I did. Not only is it a one humper, it also sports unparallel knobs. Definitely more teardrop, organic shaped.

I've tried two or three--I can't remember exactly, as I've played a bunch of different 4004s at Wildwood, but at least two were two-piece necks. Honestly I didn't like it any better than the one-piece as far as feel. Tone was a bit different though, a bit "cleaner" perhaps... hard to describe really, as the difference was subtle at best. I think the biggest advantage is the two-piece construction is going to cut back big time on the amount of maintenance and the number of lemons.

Earlier this year I was at my local RIC dealer and they had just received a new 4003 with a two piece neck and an older used one. The new 4003 neck was wider as it neared the body than the older one. Is it possible that when RIC went to the common neck for both that it is a compromise between the two sizes? or possibly just two extremes of what is in the tolerence window?
Also If I recall correctly, years ago I purchased a mid '70s 4001 that I wanted to put a new bridge on. This one had already been chisseled out for a Badass II. I tried to use the Schaller bridge (current production on the 4004) and I couldn't get the string spacing narrow enough. This may also be a reason for a compromised neck width as you go higher in the register. These are all just guesses on my part.

I'm gonna recede that statement and say I like the single hump better. I was at SamAsh in NY and I saw a 2011 and a 1976 near eachother. The single hump looks much better, it goes with the shape of the body a lot better. I guess you really have to see it in person to notice the real difference.
