Congratulations Jeff. Looks as if both, the bass and the elf are keepers.

I second that! I keep the original strap pins in the case and put straplocks on all my basses as well.

WOW! Two breathtaking beauties!!! You are indeed a fortunate man!!!! She's (both) gorgeous!!!

Deer Santa, Please bring me an elf like Jeff has. I've been a good boy all year, at least until I saw that pickture. Your fiend, Tom.

Dear Tom, You haven't really been that good and besides, she'd probably kill you. And your wife definitely would. Get back to your recorder. Santa

Can well be, but pullovers sometimes tend to exaggerate!

OK, I don't want to hijack this thread but since it's about early Christmas gifts. here is my gift to myself for being extra good this year!!! She's straight out of the case and acclimating to my home from the cold UPS truck.

Like I promised, very Jetglo and with checkered binding to boot!!

I can't wait to tune her, plug her in and give her a go. Nice low action and slim neck. man, this is going to be fun!!! Oh, she also comes with the original black treble pup cover!!

It's a stunning bass, visually and she feels great. I think she is going to be a wonderful player!

Enjoy

I've posted this sentiment here before and I'll say it again, some of the best gifts I've ever received were purchased for me, by me!! :D That trend continues this Christmas as well. My Christmas gift to myself will arrive tomorrow via UPS in the form of a very big box with something very Jetglo inside. :D :D

Merry pre- Christmas to me!

I thought I was the only one. In January 1977 I bought PH5916.

Inversely, what are the chances that my 4001V63s (individually or in collaboration) could bring me a Snow Elf? (please!)

Just dropping back to your hijack, Kevin, it's a 1993 Mapleglo in near-immaculate condition when purchased back in February. I've since replaced some oxidised hardware with new units from Pick of the Ricks, along with a vintage Rick case to replace a generic unit, and Group I Ernie Ball flatwounds (.055"–.110") to replace the Group IIIs on it when purchased. It's a nice player with a slim neck, unlike the even more immaculate 2001 Fireglo I also bought in February, but does suffer a little with soft finish on the headstock. Both basses have issues with string-to-string consistency and overall level with the horseshoes, but I've bought replacement horseshoes (Pick of the Ricks again) and will be installing at the same time that both axes are customised to receive a Hi-Gain between toaster and horseshoe (scratchplates already made up by Tony at Pickguardian). The problems with the Fireglo make it ungigworthy at present, but the Mapleglo isn't as badly affected and is a very good player, with Rick tone in spades!
