You have provided a great service to the forum as the moderator of the bass section. I am personally very proud to call you a friend. I hope that you always remain here among us and stay friends with those who care about you.
Joey, I join all of those in saluting your great dedication and committment to this Forum and all things Rickenbacker over the years; and I am very sorry that attitudes and strong opinions have caused this painful decision for you. :( I am proud to call you my friend and hope that you will continue your wonderful contributions to the RRF.

Wow

Joey, thank you for all of the time, effort, and most importantly LOVE you have put in over here. Not only are you aces on the internet, you are also a great guy in person. It's obvious your passion is here with these instruments and trying to help make a place where folks can feel at ease and just enjoy themselves is no small feat. I know you have been wrestling with this for a while, and a break ought to do you some good. Have a good rest, enjoy the holidays, and know that there are a lot of greatful people here who appreciate your time and efforts.

Ok, dang, starting to sound like an epitaph. You aren't dead yet!

I am proud to call you and Diane my friends, and when you guys get a breather, we'd love to have you guys over here for some REALLY GOOD italian food!

Thank you, and my thanks to the others who still strive to make this a nice, friendly place :D

Good for you Joey. It's a rather sad statement about the "human condition" when individuals can't/won't maintain a level of civility on something as meaningless as an internet forum...I know you have had to deal with some real whoppers over the years. Being the hallway monitor in Romper Room can take it's toll - glad you're escaping before it claims you as the next victim!

Be well buddy! Happy Festivus!

Yeah, just because you won't be moderator doesn't mean you're going away. You've done a great job, and can continue to contribute. You don't need no stinkin' badges! :)

Dude I am saddened at the news and also amazed you put up with some of the stuff for so long... but now the real question - what are you gonna do with all of this new free time??? I really hope things like videos on your site and all fill the void. Thanks for all of the time and support here and outside the forum. You are one of the good ones Joey!!! wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Health, Happy and Prosperous New Year!!

Thanks Paul. This nicely sums up how I feel also.

Being a moderator is an unpaid position and nobody does this job for power, glory or self satisfaction. Those who answer the call do so to provide their services for the good of all our members. That is why all the mean spirited communications and events that often take place off forum via PM's and e-mail etc., are so disheartening.

Sometimes people lose sight of what drew us to this place. For me it was the pleasant atmosphere and camaraderie that spawned friendly discussions about the instruments that we for the most part, particularly like above all else.

I don't like being blindsided or ambushed either and trust me when I say that I have had my fair share of "poisoned letters" and nasty comments that just arrived in my email or in box out of the blue. It takes all kinds to make the world go around. Some days are good days and other days........... not so good.

Joey, wow.

I guess I'm not surprised because I know this has been building up in you from our conversations when we were working on SCARF and throughout this last year. I am sorry to hear you finally reached the breaking point. I'm sure this was not an easy decision for you to make.

As has been said, I hope this allows you to enjoy the forum more now. I look forward to talking to you in person and hopefully I'll get to see you and Diane soon.

Joey: I respect your dedication to your musical tool of choice. I'm an all-or-nothing kind of guy: I either really, really like something or I don't care at all. I'm becoming the former with my Rick.

BTW, I really like your Joey's Bass Notes site. Those wiring diagrams came in handy when I was messing around with different (Rickenbacker) pickups, caps, pots, etc.. Your sharing your knowledge of and enthusiasm for Rickenbacker basses is appreciated by this "info junkie."

Joey,

Wow, that news came as a surprise. Sorry to hear of your troubles as of late and I understand how you feel. I too am a moderator on another unrelated forum and it is a thankless job. Trying to keep the discussions on point without strife can be a daunting and thankless job. No matter what you do, someone will have an issue with what decision you've made. It's the nature of the beast.

I hope you will still post and offer your expertise to us all. Please?

I will close by saying that your videos as well as your website have assisted me countless times while tinkering with my basses. Before I attempt anything, i refer to either the video's you made or I read over your site. It gives me the tools and the confidence to do things for myself. I've wanted to publicly thank you for a while now and this seems like as good a place as any!!

Thank you for your assistance and for all the work you've done to help make this forum the great place it is. I hope to see you around on the list and maybe one day in person so I can thank you personally and shake your hand!

Sepp

Your inclination is to be selfless and a helpful soul. It was clear to me the very first time we met, and huge hearts like yours are few and far between in this life. Joey's Bass Notes and this was a labor of love, and kudos for giving so much of yourself. Must be the Eye-talian in you! (Being purebred and all... ). Anyway, it should be more pleasant and less stressful for you, and it's great to call you friend.

Hang in there and see you at NAMM!!!

Quite well said.
