Thanks! I found it at the 2010 NAMM show, where I first met Martin. He showed me some really nice basses with active electronics in them, but I prefer passive electronics; I asked him if he had anything passive and he pulled this bass out from behind his demo amp. This was on the first morning of the show, Thursday. By Friday afternoon I gave him a deposit for the bass! Martin was going to ship the bass to me, but I found out on Saturday that Jonathan Herrera, from Bass Player magazine, saw it and wanted to do a review on the bass, and a fretted one of Martin's, so I had to wait to get the bass from BP after they did their review, which is in the June 2010 issue. Needless to say, I didn't mind the wait as I have a bass that was both at NAMM and reviewed in BP. 8)

The top is Spruce with a walnut back, maple neck, and superb Harvey Citron pickups.

Here is a similar photo of a fretted bass Martin built for me this past Winter.

My '92 4003FL has the side dots where frets would be, and the fingerboard dots where they would be on a fretted bass, and I like it like that. Uh huh uh huh.

So now, they are a cm off from where they used to be. Wow, is that annoying. I am sure I will get used to it.

Now I have 3 fretless Rics, and each has different side dots. Does anyone else find this annoying or do you just not look at them?
Here they are. Compare. They are so close, you forget which neck you are on.
You have a fretless with two necks?

And all the dots are different?

Now, DOT'S confusing, I agree! :!:

I have a fretless with three necks, but it doesn't have any side dots to cause confusion...

Ha! If there was such an animal, Jeff Rath probably made it! I am over it now. I wonder if Ric would put the dots on my MG in the correct place??? or, as the poster above said , " I don't need no stinking dots". They just mess me up.

Is there some kind of special white out for dots? Maybe I should post this in the Vibrola section of the forum, huh?

Dot could be right.

Be sure that, when you apply it, to use Dot Cotton...
