If it was made before mid 1965 I'll give you a couple hundred bucks to take it off your hands. 8) Finish color doesn't matter. CAR would be better, however.
Deal! Actually, it's not that vintage. It's either a 1980 or 81 made P bass with maple neck, skunk stripe, black with white pickguard..

here's hoping! It kinda sucks that the only way to get a new Ric in our neck of the woods is through MF or something similar. How long did the shipping process take for you? It would be cool if I could get an idea of when I can expect to have her in my hands. I'm already restless  it's gonna be a long few weeks.
Ha ha I know the feeling. My first Ric came from American Musical Supply by Fed Ex. It was here in less than a week if I remember correctly. My next was the ill-fated MID (see other threads on this board). For some strange reason MF wouldn't ship it directly to Canada, so I sent it via my father-in-law in the USA. Now THAT was torturous! Fortunately MF sent me my replacement JG (did I mention how much I like the JG? :D) directly via UPS and it was here in less than a week. Of course it felt longer because I was checking the tracking every five minutes.
Yeah I'm familiar with the MID woes you had. I was following that thread quite closely since I was also looking to get a new Ric from MF. Thankfully your JG worked out cause if not I probably wouldn't have gone with MF. Less than a week? nice! I hope I can be so lucky. Hopefully mine ships out first thing come Monday. Did you have to pay much in duty? or do you not have to since Rics are 100% USA made? I'm not exactly sure how that all works with the border.

And yeah I'll try and post up some pics when I get it. I'll probably post up some of my union jack 4001 too...it's pretty unique looking

HST and whatever brokerage fees the shipper imposes on you :(. How are they shipping to you?

It only gave me one option for the shipping...standard international (I assume that's through USPS and regular mail)

Yeah sure...I just have the one of me playing it when I first got it like 6-7 years ago. My camera is not very good at all so not the best pic. It's got some dings and finish checking that were there when I first got it and like I said before it has some issues with the bridge pup and string clearance (especially the D and G). Other than that plays pretty good. Could probably use a fretjob. It's got a Toaster in the neck and the bridge pup is a Sergio and I have the cap wired in. One of the owners before me stripped the fretboard finish off and removed the body binding which kinda sucks but I got it for cheap and she's served me well over the years. I'm gonna try and do some work on her and get her back into better shape as funds allow.

it was originally a project bass of a forum member here...Jaimie something. He then sold it to another forum member (can't remember the name for the life of me...I want to say Steve but I don't know) and now I have it. It was the second bass I ever got...my first "real" one though and the start of my Ric addiction

If so then the "brokerage fee" will be a lot lower. Did you get the email message saying your item has shipped? If so there should be some sort of tracking number.

The good thing about buying from Musician's Friend sight unseen is that they have a great return policy. If anything is wrong with the bass, they will take it back. RIC also has, in my experience, good customer service on their warranties so that is always an option, too.

I bought one of the MIDs (it is a 2010 model, I think) and the neck is great.

I wonder if MF added RIC to the exclusion list after their MID sale. I have a feeling they either lost or came close to losing money with that one when the 15% was taken off of them.

When you mentioned this bass Jaymi was the first person to come to mind! There can't be too many Rick basses that look like that one out there.

Jaymi is still around, although he spends more time over at Talkbass. I don't know who had the bass in between him and you.
