I like how the listing for the MID says it was under "professional lighting" for some of the photos, but they didn't even bother to blow the dust off it for the close-ups.

Good for you, Ron! People gave me a hard time on BGC when I sold that last Casino. I think I got a remark about dust on a headstock, too. I pretty much told them to get a broom and where to stick it, and sold the guitar cash in hand to an RRF member!

I too, have a hard time keeping all the dust off an instrument when photographing one; just wiping the instrument down can attract more dust from static buildup.

I think it sucks that they bought one of each with the intention of sitting on them for 2 months, only to try and make a 20% profit .

Is it me being jealous? ..... Maybe... I guess the old saying holds true, you have to have money to make money. It would have been alot cooler to see these basses "adopted"by someone who really wanted one....... And at a fair price!

I agree with you, I said it the day I was told these would be comming out and asked if I would be interested in any of them, I said I wonder how long it would be before someone who any of these would put them on ebay for a greedy and outragous price, and low and behold, Olivia's didnt disapoint me, im still waiting for a private owner that bought one to put thiers up on ebay now, now that Olivia's gave them a baromitor to start with... I bought a Green and a Yellow one, I love these basses and play them every week, not worried about a dink or scratch, its an instrument and its meant to be played which at times may get dinked or scratched....

Olivia's Vintage has to make some kind of profit, and to their credit i've talked to the people there and they are very reasonable. I was able to haggle down to a nice deal when I bought my 480 from them, they are open to negiotiation on eBay prices if you call. They also included a note that detailed the history of it's owner (some guy's parents bought it for him as a christmas gift and he used it in his bands first album) which I thought was very cool.

Yeah, think of Olivia's ebay prices as the "sticker" or "list" price. They will, of course, happily sell it for that, but will also gladly deal on their guitars.

Also, remember that official U.S. dealers cannot sell to people outside of North America, so having someone willing to buy something such as these limited editions and reselling them to the entire world gives other people a chance at getting one. And yeah, they want to make something for their trouble. I seriously doubt any of those "genuine Rickenbacker enthusiasts" would part with their limited editions for what they paid for them either...

As much as some people don't like that Olivia's will take instruments like this and flip them for a nice profit, you have to give them due credit. I don't think they have ever put the screws to anyone and they take excellent pictures. The better the pictures, the higher selling price will be, especially from a trusted seller.
Like CJ said, other people outside of North America get a chance at them from Olivia's.
