This site has nothing to do with the company though, right...?admin wrote:Trying to police who posts what on what forum is an administrative nightmare. I do, however, see John Hall's point.

There's a bunch of six-stringers over on TB, even some 8 and 12-stringers, too.Rickissippi wrote:TB???? TalkBass? As a six-stringer, I guess I wouldn't be a member of that one.

This is the only forum I am currently a member of.

I think I'm still signed up with BGC but again, I rarely visit. But I'm here a lot. You guys are like my extended family.

Re: Belonging to both Rick fora....
Like many earlier posters, I belong to both boards but only rarely visit the corporate site and even more rarely post there. About the only time I visit these days is when I'm looking for the answer to some technical question that I can't find discussed here -- which doesn't happen very often.
Re: Belonging to both Rick fora....
It's still not very active, probably mainly to do with the restrictions a company site simply has to have, but the forum software is the same as this site.badeggs wrote:Never joined the corporate forum. Never seemed too active over there, and the old setup was pretty clunky....
We don't delete the cut and paste posts . . . you'll see some of those up there right now. What I said was that I personally was rarely inclined to respond to such posts. I figure that such posters are looking for a wider point of view than I might be prepared to offer.david/wales/u.k wrote:I remember JH saying that if they saw the same post here and on the Rickenbacker forum then they would remove the one on the official forum. ....He wasn't being ackward or anything like that, just didn't want the same posts on both sites..............However you still see the same posts on both sites quite often.

I was a member of the official site but can't log on anymore. I check in there from time to time but this site is better suited to my interests, particularly as I'm primarily focussed on vintage Ricks.

Ha, you got me. Busted in a moment of non-specificity.jps wrote:There's a bunch of six-stringers over on TB, even some 8 and 12-stringers, too.Rickissippi wrote:TB???? TalkBass? As a six-stringer, I guess I wouldn't be a member of that one.
I have more posts logged in over at RIC than I do here, but there seem to be, by-and-large, nicer folks here. Plenty of great ones, there, too, but there are also a few .... well, never mind.
On another note, I think this is my first thread to go to two pages! [EDIT - nope, it appears that I've achieved this before, perhaps unknowingly.]
Re: Belonging to both Rick fora....
I started out on the RIC corporate forum and was there for a couple of years I think before joining this one. I tend to do most of my posting and checking on this one now, but I amassed a fair amount of posts on that one.

Re: Belonging to both Rick fora....
The RRF is for Ric enthusiasts/owners, not the management of the Ric Corporation, which has its own Forum. I have no objection to JH, BH (?), PW and others contributing to the RRF, but not at the expense of RRF members feeling able to express their views candidly and without fear of criticism - after all, it is the members of the RRF who have dug into their pockets to spend their money on these instruments. Sadly, I know that a number of Ric owners in the UK have now abandoned the RRF (one is actually disposing of all his Ric guitars) because they are unhappy at the actions of the 'Ric Police' who allegedly monitor the RRF and suppress freedom of speech. For my part, it is quite simple - I am a Ric collector, I am a bone-fide member of the RRF and I will not be intimidated or silenced in saying what I want to say on the Forum, within the accepted protocols. The day that I am prohibited from contributing is the day when I will start to off-load my collection.
Santa visits only once a year, but Santa Ana delivers Rics all year round.

Really though? No personal offense directed at you, but that's pretty weak.
Does your guitar collection exist to support your online discussions or vice versa?
