Ben your gracious comment is touching and most appreciated. Thanks for sharing the Rickenbacker spirit.

Peter (admin) owns the forum. It's only right that we go by his rules.

Ivan, you have a lot to learn at your young age. You've never even owned a Rickenbacker. I'd suggest that you read and learn more than than you just blurt out what you think is right.
As Paulie said, anyone who feels they have the right to say anything they want on a forum, needs to start their own forum. This is a privately owned forum. It has a few rules, which I don't think are all that hard to follow. Respect Peter's rules or don't post here. Simple as that.

I post on the RIC company forum as well as this one. The RIC company forum is relatively new, especially with the newer format. It's not very busy on the RIC forum, but it also it took a few years before this forum became busy. When I first joined the RRF, it was really slow and had several unpleasant people that I really didn't care to interact with.

Ivan, by all means contact me privately. This would be the kind and respectful thing to do. If you have been hurt by comments then please accept that you too have the potential to do the same.

I look forward to your PM.

Howard has it right in my view. There are some rules that limit how far we can go in our expression. I cannot let comments stand that hurt others. All we have is one another.

As we go forward I would ask that those who have problems with moderating contact me should they feel unable to discuss the matter with moderators directly.
PM Sent, Peter.

OK, at the risk of sounding like 'the Waltons' ('night, John Boy, for those of us old enough to remember!), I think that this topic has been very helpful in sorting out some misunderstandings and issues. Certainly, from a personal standpoint, I welcome the support from the Ric Corporation and I confess that I now have a much greater appreciation of the role of 'Admin', Peter McCormack and his commitment to the RRF. I was going to say 'Vive le New Brunswick', but this may not be very PC, so perhaps let's just leave it there!

About the "discussion(s)":

Reading the threads concerning the TV yellow basses, the introduction of the new Ruby colour and the white RM LE for the UK made me sad. This one now, too.

Some people just said that they do not like the colours or the shape of the upper pickguard.
- Customers talk about what they like and what they do not like. This is market research for free!

I am the owner of a high end brand. So I use positive feedback for feeling fine and negative feedback for developing my brand further. If there are nasty comments I just laugh. O.K., sometimes the nasty ones make me a bit angry. But I will never answer them. Sorry, I have got better things to do. - Every morning at least one idiot is waking up. So what!

There were a lot of comments that did not violate the rules of the RRF at all. I totally agree in deleting every "lawbreaking" comment immediately, BTW! These just spoil the climate here. And the mods do a good (and hard!) job.

Unfortunately there were a lot of subtly aggressive posts from the "good side" members, shouting the constructive critics down, too. They remind me of the old days here in Germany before the fall of the iron wall: "If You do not like it here You can go to Russia!"
Ugly! This is not a way of (really) grown up persons' communication, IMHO.

Maybe some want to "protect" the brand. Maybe some want to collect credit points, as opposed to RIC or the RRF.
- Think about: Rickenbacker is the oldest guitar manufacturer in the world, an iconic high end brand since decades. Do they need such a protection from people with preemptive obedience? Hopefully not!!!

Unfortunately in the last months this unhealthy dynamic is picking up speed, at least in my observation. Destructive comments are bad - but claqueurs are a pain in the a**, too. So, please, meet in the middle and we got it!

I received a PM about this post that made me realize some may interpret the post as a politicized line in the sand, declaration of allegiances, what have you... to be honest, I don't have time for any of that. I was just agreeing with the surface level of Jake's sentiment as I understood it. I would be ashamed if I ever let an outside group of people, on a forum or elsewhere, influence me into selling my Rics for some reason that wasn't about the instrument's utility or my own personal enjoyment. I don't believe in politicizing the instrument I play like that.

Am I proud to support RIC and the community around them? Sure, for a variety of good reasons. I have made lots of great friends in the community. I love that "green" initiatives get mentioned quite a bit by the leadership (and usually implemented before they are even disclosed to the public). I love that they are still doing business exclusively in America and haven't gotten swallowed up by some larger, faceless entity. But none of those things are forcing my hand to stay with the company. You know why I play Ric basses? Because I ****ing love my Ric basses. The end.

Hi Joshua. It's sad that you had to post the top half of your post in order to justify your position. You gotta love human nature and the desire to divide into "Us" and "Them" cliques. "Allegiance"? Wow..... reminds me of junior high school.

If you substitute "instruments" for "basses", I'm in full agreement with the way you closed your post. Tom
They were having a special on double quotes, so I picked up a bunch of them.

I am all for expression until it crosses the line and moves into spiteful territory. Moving information from the PM domain to the public one is sometimes inappropriate. I would ask that we be mindful of this.

Controversy aside and thanks to Ben for the wise diplomatic gesture, I've enjoyed belonging to and participating in both Forums. The corporate one has been quite entertaining at time. Especially when the world's longest thread, "What does the "C" in "C Series" stand for?" came along.

I am not sure if that ever got answered. What does the "C" in "C Series" stand for? :?:

Anyway, I think each has a lot to offer and each has some threads that are more active than others.

I like the corporate "Just Guitars".
