There are lots of good deals right now!

This one went for $895!

Hopefully this one won't go over $450.00; that's about the break-even on it.

That wasn't as good of a deal as you may think Brian. The original ROS jack is gone ($110.00 to replace), and it's got an AllParts tailpiece on it ($125.00 to replace). It also has HipShot Tuners on it, which are better, but may turn some people off.

I don't think anyone buying that bass is concerned with how original it is. There's no point in replacing the ROS jack, because the serial number wouldn't match and it has a plain metal plate already on it. Some people consider the Allparts tailpiece and Hipshot tuners an improvement over the stock units as well. I think it was a fantastic deal for someone who wanted a Rick bass and wasen't concerned with its aesthetics.

Given the fact that the AllParts tailpiece is pretty much the same as the stock piece aesthetically and functionally (John Hall has commented that the casting was actually based on RIC's casting....lawsuit pending), I don't know how anyone can say it functions any better. The AllParts one definitely has poorer quality plating, and is a lot cheaper. But yes, I'm sure someone felt it was a real steal of a deal.

40 minutes to go and it's up to $800. Could this be a bid from a lunatic asylum?

Paying that much is crazy, IMO. That's roughly twice what it's worth in anyone's wildest imaginings.

Not if the person buying it is the person fixing it, which isn't really that hard if you know how to use an iron, a wet rag, wood clamps and glue.

That's only $15 less (shipping included) than I spent for my 1990 White BHBT earlier this year; it just had some minor tail lift and was dirty, but was otherwise perfectly playable. I agree that $835 for this is kind of nuts; I only paid $600 for first JetGlo 4003, which had no functional problems at all.

Very dubious bidding patterns.
