Restrung my pride and joy earlier this evening. Had to wait until Mike & Molly was over, but here we go. These pictures show the fireglo pattern is closer to Mark's '86, which is from the same batch as mine and Tom Petty's.

Here's a shot of the bridge...the action is like butter. Since it left Ron, I've never had the neck adjusted, and Steve says it's as straight as an arrow and doesn't need an adjustment.

This is really special...an antecedent of the New Style f-holes they shipped in small volumes to Italy at the end of the '60's.

Yes but the body shape is quite bit different from what would be known as the New Style. Square neck heel, more of a hand shaped body style, solid white binding on the back.

That's a very interesting spec for '64. I believe all the '64 Rose Morris exports, even the first shipment, had the rounded heel so this square heel must be rare (unique?) on any '64 f-hole guitar. In the picture it looks like the f-hole is bound as well...do you think that's factory original?

Yes, don't forget the basses! (BTW--wasn't the 4005 exported? But I can't recall the RM number for it.)

Looks excellent Jake. It's good that you've got one with a straight and true neck too!

Now you've gotta cross your fingers that the factory does a C series anniversary reissue of this model 1997 next year. Once you sample a brand spanking new reissue with the X-braced body and the same beautiful cosmetics as your existing guitar I think you'll find it very difficult to to resist the upgrade (start saving now!) It'll be interesting to see whether they go with the true-to-the-original-but-somewhat-unloved Accents on a reissue, or play safe with a trapeze/R...either way, I think they'll be queuing round the block for 'em!

That's interesting - I don't recall seeing any pics of full bodied export models (1997, 1998, 1993) with a square heel but I do recall reading that they used NOS older bodies (with square heels?) for some early shipments of the model 1996. I think the bound f-hole looks good...I wonder why the factory decided to ditch that feature on the standard series production deluxe/bound body guitars. I recall Collin's old modded 1993 also had the f-hole bound when he first got it from Canada and I thought that looked great too..

I believe our admin Peter has a special 12-string in Rose Morris specs that was custom made for him in 2003. Whether he wants to contribute, tell us the story and share some pics or not is up to him.

He's already done that Jake...and on this very website! That one is indeed a rare beauty.

Are the selector switch tips so long and narrow, or is it just the picture?

That 2 PU is almost perfect - adding a 660 wide 24 fret neck and bound slash hole would do

Would be good if the factory offered the bound sound hole as an ex-works cost option. I'm sure a lot of people would go for it (either on the f or slash!) and it could be priced at a level which would make it a nice little earner even taking account of the small degree of added production complexity.
