Don't laugh. When I was 11 or 12 I did something similar until I got my first "real" electric guitar (mail-order Sears & Roebuck, April, 1975, and I still have it, and it still plays well - modified as it is) when I was 13.

Yep. Quite a few models require a timber or earth hue....
