Fender now selling necks/bodies direct
Re: Fender now selling necks/bodies direct
Interesting...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Pretty cool! Would be huge if they sold them without finishes. It's not easy to find correct Fender shapes aftermarket.

I'm on board, still waiting for the "V" neck option, though. They really make you pay for that decal, don't they?

I wonder what this says about the fiscal state of FMIC and how they view their competition from Warmoth (and similar).

Remember, they already make money on every single licensed Fender body sold through Warmoth et al.
Re: Fender now selling necks/bodies direct
Maybe it's more about all those sellers parting out Fenders on Ebay.

Do they make more money on this venture? Why license and sell your own aftermarket parts?collin wrote:cassius987 wrote:I wonder what this says about the fiscal state of FMIC and how they view their competition from Warmoth (and similar).

I guess I don't know enough about this to understand why Fender would want to compete with those sales by supplying the market with new stock of real Fender parts.Clint wrote:Maybe it's more about all those sellers parting out Fenders on Ebay.

I don't know much about it either, but if you check out the prices that used Fender parts are going for on Ebay, I think FMIC can make quite a profit for themselves and still undercut the competition.

Fender has never been shy about reaching out to every corner of the market. I can imagine that some people would rather pay for an "official" Fender part rather than a licensed part from Warmoth. Fender makes money either way!cassius987 wrote:Do they make more money on this venture? This. Say what you will about Fender, but nobody else seems to be able to get their contours and cuts quite right.deaconblues wrote:It's not easy to find correct Fender shapes aftermarket.
