That would be a good score. There are not a lot of those in JG.

That is nice, but I love my Mapleglo! It has that slim vintage Rick neck and in two months it will be twenty years old! I’d say it’s safe to call my V63 and vintage! And it’s been mine from day 1!!!

Cheers!

Andy,
How are those DR strings doing on the frets of your Ricks so far? I'm thinking of trying them on my 4003 at some time.

I used to use Roto's which eat frets up in a hurry. My DR's have been amazingly easy on frets. I am not sure why that is.

I saw the V63 last night about 20 minutes after it was posted. Too bad it didn't have a decent BIN or I would have been all over it! Threw a bid in anyways, but I've already been eclipsed. If it's all the seller claims it should be super clean!

That's how I got 92, the BIN was in my opinion a good price for the condition, I got it within 30 mins of it being posted. Absolutley no regrets at the BIN purchase.

Jim, your V63 is lovely. I really like the older ones. And Ted, it's interesting to hear your comments on the DRs as I'm thinking of trying them. I prefer lower tension strings, and it seems like they might fit the bill (although I love my Rotos!)

Ted,
Thats what happened to me when I used Roto's on an 70's 4001 I used to have. They ate the frets up rather fast. Thanks for the info, I think I'll give the DR nickel Lo Rider's a try on my 4003 in the near future.

The Low Riders will be even easier on the frets than the stainless steel High Beams that I use. DR's are softer (pull less) on the neck than Rotos do. You may have to adjust your trusses after you switch.

Iv'e been using Dr High Beams since around 1990 and swear by them. I believe they have a round core as opposed to the Low Rider hex core. High Beams are the most flexible string Dr makes and are fairly low tension. They sound great and last a good long time. I'm hooked.

I have never seen a string that eats frets like Rots do.

Randy - Ted's right about the DR's IMO!
Rick’s love DR strings! They are very easy on the frets and necks. I use Low Rider Stainless Steels 45 – 105. I had Rotos on my V once and not to long ago and neck was all over the place. Put the DR’s on and she settled right down. I really like the sound and feel. They really remind me of the Rick strings. As a matter of fact I will only use DR and Rick strings!

Here’s a shot of my 85 V

Cheers!
