Jim, your V63 is lovely. I really like the older ones. And Ted, it's interesting to hear your comments on the DRs as I'm thinking of trying them. I prefer lower tension strings, and it seems like they might fit the bill (although I love my Rotos!)

Ted,
Thats what happened to me when I used Roto's on an 70's 4001 I used to have. They ate the frets up rather fast. Thanks for the info, I think I'll give the DR nickel Lo Rider's a try on my 4003 in the near future.

I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

Randy - Ted's right about the DR's IMO!
Rick’s love DR strings! They are very easy on the frets and necks. I use Low Rider Stainless Steels 45 – 105. I had Rotos on my V once and not to long ago and neck was all over the place. Put the DR’s on and she settled right down. I really like the sound and feel. They really remind me of the Rick strings. As a matter of fact I will only use DR and Rick strings!
Here’s a shot of my 85 V
Cheers!
