Regardless of what some may think, cops are people too and while thy don't crave the "atta boys", since they are few and far between, they do appreciate when there efforts are recognized. I buried two brother officers in a week span last week. Cop do a tough job that the vast majority could never dream of doing. Whether you live in a "podunk" little town or Gotham City, they do the same work.

I gotta say one more thing about thanking the cops. While I never have looked for attaboys in my profession (I'm not a cop) they are nice when they happen. Plus, come promotion or raise time they look good in the personal folder. They may have just been 'doing their job', but a public 'Thank You' never hurt anyone. Too often we tend to only recognize folks when they mess up, I personally like it the other way around. Regardless, getting your stuff back is sure enough golden!
