Man, I would really like to try one of these. But, lefty specimens don't come around very often.

Sorry Jeff, I'm not fluent in Welsh!

I'll post some photos at the weekend.

It took a used, modified 4004 with some special circumstances to bring me into the fold but I must say it is every bit the answer to Fender that people asked for (most of them without any intention to actually support such a product). I wish the 4004 would take on a handful more fun iterations in the RIC lineup. Only thing I remain on the fence about is the neck pickup rout, which on my bass was filled in by the 2nd owner and covered up.

My good forum friend Dan R. had a really rough time with these basses... Wish I could let him try mine some day.

I've now installed one of Dane's harnesses to provide a blend control rather than the mini-slector, and coil taps on each pup. Looks nice with the addition of three new gold/ebony knobs from Q-Parts. Some shots:

Does the blend pot have a smaller diameter shaft to fit in the switch hole without enlarging it?

No Jeff, I needed to enlarge the hole to 3/8" to get the shaft through.

Thanks for the info, Ash.

If I were to do a VVT, or a VPT to my Snowglo 4004 I do not want to enlarge the switch hole, so I will have to research what may be out there in Potsville®. Maybe Hawaii or Colombia.................

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've kept the old harness and am really pleased with the new one, but it's a pretty irreversable mod once the switch hole is drilled out.

There currently is no one making a quality blend pot with a 1/4" bushing diameter and a solid shaft. I use to use Alpha push-pull pots, which had a 1/4" bushing, but the Bourns pots I use, which have a 3/8" bushing, are of better quality.

IS there anyone making a quality volume pot in 1/4" to make a VVT harness?
